§371-8 Duties and powers of director; enforcement of rules.
In addition to such other duties and powers as may be conferred upon the director by law, the director of labor and industrial relations shall:(1) Supervise and direct the operations and functions of the department of labor and industrial relations;
(2) Cause the enforcement of rules and regulations;
(3) Propose such rules and regulations or changes in rules and regulations, as the director deems advisable for the protection of life, health, and safety of employees, in every employment or place of employment. The director may appoint committees composed of employers, employees, and experts to suggest rules and regulations or changes therein.
The director may make, amend, and repeal rules necessary for the internal administration of the department and for the proper conduct of hearings before the director or the director's authorized agents under this section. The director shall not be bound by technical rules of evidence in the conduct of such hearings.
